The Waiting Room

Annual appointments! Gotta love em;) Consistency seems to be such a double edged sword… No changes in address, employment, insurance? Okay, you can head on back! Score. But you don’t head in to see the doctor, you’re granted access to The Waiting Room.

When you’re waiting for an awesome practitioner, you understand that this could be a while and you pack accordingly- iPad, magazine, book, device chargers, etc.

As I type these words, I have come to the realization that life on this earth is God’s Waiting Room. The factors of consistency: twenty four hours each day; seven days each week. Any component of the calendar is consistent.

Depending on the job you have or the community you live or the family you have,  that consistency can seem like a “bummer”. As a believer, I am learning to find inner peace and rest in His love for me and my family. We are where we are for a reason. This is not punishment, this is our training ground!

Matthew 11:28

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

Today, we (women, wives, men, husbands, employees, dreamers) must commit to believing in ourselves and who we are destined to become. We do not exist in a vacuum. Every choice we make or opportunity we decline (whether due to fear or otherwise) has an impact on the greater whole.

Change can be scary- leaping into the unknown. But take a moment to think of all the times you’ve had a fear but pursued anyhow. For better or worse, you’re still here!

So while we are fortunate to be in God’s Waiting Room (this world) this is our chance to pray- seek out God’s vision for our role in this place for this time. And when we’ve received the confirmation to GO, let us be confident in moving forward with the vision that He has placed inside of us.

Joshua 1:9

Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
